epmd installed with zlogin immediately goes into maintenance (DEV)

Description

I have been troubleshooting epmd going into maintenance on dev. After a chat on slack it was confirmed that "epmd" is now part of "fifo_login" and installed during the zlogin installation. There was a possibility that an incorrect install order was causing some type of problem with epmd. To test this I did the following:

  • svcadm disable chunter epmd login

  • svcs chunter epmd login #confirmed they were indeed disabled

  • rm -rf /opt/chunter* /opt/fifo_zlogin*

  • svccfg delete epmd chunter zlogin #removed the services

  • re-downloaded latest fifo_zlogin dev and installed it in isolation.

curl -O http://release.project-fifo.net/gz/dev/fifo_zlogin-latest.gz

After installing it "zlogin" was in the "online" state and "epmd" was once again in maintenance.

Clearing the service had no effect and it instantly transitioned back to maintenance.

As per below:

[root@smartosn2 /opt]# svcs epmd zlogin
STATE STIME FMRI
online 3:52:12 svc:/fifo/zlogin:default
maintenance 3:58:45 svc:/network/epmd:default
[root@smartosn2 /opt]# svcadm clear epmd

[root@smartosn2 /opt]# tail -f /var/svc/log/network-epmd:default.log

Please let me know if there is a more detailed way to collect information on why epmd is going into maintenance or if there is a more relevant log file that can be attached.
